Animals in Aviandria–What does the local fauna look like?

Every land is most likely going to have animals. Of course, Aviandria is no different. But what kind of animals does Aviandria have? If you’ve read any of the books, there are probably a few that are mentioned, but most of them are just glanced over and haven’t really been talked about much. Here is a general idea of what you can expect.

Like many other things, the animals in Aviandria mostly mirror things you would find in our world. The only animal I can think of that you would find in Aviandria that you couldn’t find in our world would be the rocs. Rocs are very Aviandrian, and not likely to be found here. If you have seen one, please let me know, because that would be amazing.

First of all, there are some things I know Aviandria doesn’t have. These include things like lions and tigers, elephants, brightly colored parrots, monkeys, or anything you would find in very tropical or savana-like regions. Perhaps these are in other places in the same world Aviandria exists in, but they don’t live in Aviandria, nor are they really heard of in Aviandria. Dillyn would get really confused if Ashlynn started talking about gorillas or something.

Most of the animals they would have in Aviandria would be animals found in our northern hemisphere. There are things that are common across multiple continents, like bears and wolves, and some kinds of birds and bugs. They would have deer, and rabbits. Many of the farm animals would be similar, however because of size and expense, goats are more common than cows, and horses are extremely expensive and fairly rare. You’ll likely find your share of dogs and cats, and people enjoy their pets much like we do.

Like I said, Aviandrian animals would feel very familiar to most of us. I can’t make a huge comprehensive list of all the animals you might possibly find, because there would be hundreds, if not thousands. But hopefully now you have a general idea of what you might find.
