Spring Celebrations in Aviandria
Since March is the month Spring officially begins, and since there are several celebrations we have in the spring–Pi day, St. Patrick’s Day, May Day, and most of all, Easter–I thought I would share a bit about Aviandrian Spring traditions.
Spring is a very beloved season in Aviandria. With days filled with rain or snow all winter, it is little wonder those living there feel like getting out and celebrating once Winter is over. And yes, they do celebrate. There isn’t exactly one day set aside for the entire country, but rather each community schedules their own celebration to fit with their unique circumstances and needs. Each community has their own unique way of celebrating, but there are a few things that are likely to show up anywhere you go.
1- Outside. Traditionally the celebration is held outside whenever possible. If there is bad weather on the scheduled day, the celebration will often be postponed until a better day.
2- Flowers. The festivities usually include lots of fresh, spring flowers. The exact variety, of course, depends on what is available in the area.
3- Food. Sweet foods are a popular choice, along with anything fresh that can be found growing that early. Strawberries are a very common item at these celebrations.
4- Dancing.– What would an Aviandrian celebration be without dancing? This one is no different. Everybody dances.
5- Music. No Aviandrian celebration is complete without music, both instrumental and vocal. Anywhere would be likely to include these, though the exact songs might vary from place to place.
Some places will have games, activities, and carnivals that last all day. Others might only officially celebrate in the evening. There are even a few places that have things going on for the better part of a week. (I’m looking at you, Accipitridaelynn.) Regardless of the exact way they celebrate, the important thing to those in Aviandria is that they do celebrate.
What kind of celebrations do you have in the spring? What traditions go along with them?
