Ten Facts You May or May Not Have Known About Alvorach

Alvorach (pronounced ALL-vor-rock) was a very unexpected character. I had no idea he even existed when I began writing the story. I was a fair way into the story when I found out about him. He was actually given to me by my best friend in such a way that I couldn’t really ignore. The truth is, she was writing her own story from Ebony’s point of view. Alvorach originated there and ended up being sent to Aviandria. I suddenly had an extra person I hadn’t really counted on. Was I upset? Of course not! How could I begrudge our little rebellion another member? Besides, he was just what I needed. He ended up playing a vital role in Gateway to Aviandria, as well as Keys of Aviandria. As I learned more about him and his voice, this adopted character began to feel like my very own. So, with that, here are ten more facts you might not have known about Alvorach.

1. He has a small scar on his upper lip that he got while climbing trees as a child.
2. He enjoys wood carving and is quite skilled.
3. He had a good chance of becoming a dragon rider in Draconland.
4. He’s rather fond of wordplay.
5. He is not afraid to ask questions. He will ask as many as it takes to understand what he needs to.
6. With an Aviandrin mother and a Draconian father, Alvorach is quite familiar with the customs of both countries, which is why he was a perfect choice for his mission.
7. Alvorach is actually descended from Draconian royalty, but still feels a greater connection with Aviandria for some reason he can’t explaine.
8. Oddly enough, even though he only has a little Elven blood, Alvorach has full Elven vision. It isn’t diluted, like Ashlynn’s. Though, also unlike Ashlynn, he didn’t get any other of the Elven traits.
9. Alvorach has actually been reported and subsequently cleared for desertion twice. The first time was due to a miscommunication. The second time was as a cover for his secret mission in Aviandria (which you can read more about in Gateway to Aviandria, if you haven’t already).
10. Alvorach joined the Draconian army when he was eighteen because he wanted to see more of his country.
