An Anniversary–We have an entire year of posts!
This week marks the first anniversary of when I started posting on this site! It seems like that should be something of a cause to celebrate. It has been an interesting year full of twists and turns, and much of it didn’t go exactly as I had planned, but that doesn’t mean it has been a bad year. It has also made me go back and look at some of the posts that I have written over the last year. There have been some fun ones (at least in my own humble opinion) so for this week’s post, I think I’m going to go back and point out some of my favorites.
In the first post, I explained what I wanted to do with this blog. I haven’t stuck exactly to the plan, but I’ve tried to do what I could without having a book out to share extra bits about.
Some of the next posts I talked about things that influenced my writing, including this one comparing different types of literature with different kinds of food, a bit about how the stories my parents told me at bedtime inspired me, and why I chose to write fantasy.
There were a few posts that really reflected what was going on in my life, like this one about how my main character helped me deal with big changes, and how I consoled myself after my computer got amnesia. (I’m still having to work around challenges with that, by the way.)
I also tried to give people an introduction to Aviandria and the people who live there. Each of the main characters got their own spotlight and interview. You can find one for Ashlynn, Alder, Dillyn, Alvorach, Gallis, and Gwen by clicking the name. I also shared some Aviandrian traditions, including a short ghost story from Aviandria, a bit about their winter celebration, and an Aviandrian song.
One of my favorite things was the series I did about the process I go through to take a tiny idea and turn it into an entire story. You can find parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 here.
There are plenty other things I didn’t list here, but those were some of the highlights. They may sound familiar to those who have been reading from the start, or if you have just recently started, they might pique your interests. Feel free to go back and read or reread them! Also, look around at some of the others I didn’t mention. Just because I didn’t have room to put them all here, it doesn’t mean they weren’t fun.
Do you remember any of these posts? What post has been your favorite so far?
